ALPINE ETERNITY / SPD13a project

Prosub was subcontracted to act as a Marine Operations Superintendent for this particular project.

We were responsible for all vessel and subsea activities, including all planning work, related to the reinstatement of the SPD13a platform at the South Pars gas field offshore Iran. The Alpine Eternity collision caused major damages to the SPD13a jacket and subsequent the wells. First Geo was awarded the contract to re-instate the wells back to its original state as it was before the accident.

This is an ongoing insurance claim with the Britannia Steam Ship Insurance Association and the International Group of P&I Clubs, as they are responsible for re-instatement of jacket and wells after the collision.

However, based on the current situation with US sanctions towards Iran, the project entered a ‘wind-down’ phase and was suspended temporarely by November 4th 2018, pending a dispensation application approval from the US Treasury Department/OFAC.
